#TexasTweetUp: getting social & making new friends

welcome to Texas

a small idea and few people – all whom have common passion in travel – led to a BIG plan to meet up/tweet up in Austin, Texas a few weeks ago.  the result (besides lots of great food, drinks & fun) is friendships that we’ll have for some time to come.

it all started with Twitter and travel chats that led to the VERY social, savvy and social media embracing – Four Seasons Austin – who helped us to organize a happy hour to meet other social media & travel blogger types during our weekend stay.  truly, we cannot thank you enough for supporting this little venture and your parent company, Four Seasons, should be so proud of your keen efforts.

during a post-#TexasTweetUp travel chat, raul had this to say. i agree, raul. so wonderful to put a real life face to the people i’ve grown to adore on Twitter. can’t wait for our next TweetUp!

anytime I am talking about travel, I get inspired. but yes#TexasTweetUp a few weeks ago #TTOT @ilivetotravel@LolaDiMarco @L_E_A_H

and kirk said the #TexasTweetUp weekend inspired him. me too! i really love getting to know other people & hear about what they are up to and their experiences. makes life so much richer! this is one of the BIG reasons i love to travel.

SO whats on the horizon for future TweetUps you may be wondering? none other that a #USTweetUpTour! there is talk of #BeerBaconBostonTweetUp in late April and #WindyCityTweetUp in May. stay tuned…we’ll be tweeting about it and would love ANY interested fellow travelers to JOIN US. the more the merrier!

Austin, Texas

you can take the girl outta Texas but you can’t take the Texas outta the girl!

yeehaw! deep in the heart of TEXAS

what a great trip i had!  i have many more fun posts planned to cover my adventures but wanted to quickly recap my fab weekend in Austin, Texas. look back to Texas or Bust if you need to recall my plans…

i stayed in the beautiful Four Seasons Austin and was greeted with lovely southern hospitality and treated like a princess! i miss your cozy fireplace and beautiful rose bushes…lola’s favorite color – hot pink!

feelin' at home at the Four Seasons! love this awesome cow print couch!

i may have over-indulged in the tex-mex having it for dinner on friday at Gueros Taco Bar and then for breakfast saturday morning at Izzoz Tacos trailer! nahhh…who am i kidding, you can NEVER over-indulge with mexican!!

yummy breakfast tacos at Izzoz!

boy oh boy was the trip to Salt Lick BBQ worth the drive out to Driftwood, TX. do not, i repeat, DO NOT cheat yourself out of this experience if you are in the Austin area.  best beef brisket bbq sandwich EVER – hands down!

Salt Lick BBQ...yuuummmyyy!

live music was one area that i didn’t over-indulge in sadly. too much to do and not enough time. i did manage to swing by the Continental Club for some fun rockabilly and a few cheap beers!

the Continental Club

finally, lola got herself a new PAIR(S) of boots.  this…was definitely over-indulgence but i just HAD to!

lola's 1st pair of boots

lola's 2nd pair of boots!

gracias, TEXAS for being such a wonderful host.  i love you dearly. you’ll always be home to me and you’ll always have my heart!
